Break up on 19th for a fortnight - school is closed but I like to take all of Xmas off still.

My plans are to get plenty of ale down my throat and for the more sober days I might even try to catch up with uni work

I'm in, (much to the disgruntlement of the site staff) apart from 25/26 as I need to save my holiday for hospital visits next year!

Do you mean for visiting someone in hospital? Or for you being in hospital?

Off for a whole two weeks - bliss! And the school is physically shut from the 24th-2nd - so don't even have totake many days holiday

Taking my other half. She has to attend a hospital in London every week and has to go to Sutton periodically as well, so when she needs me to take her, I have to have a day/half day holiday.

School finishes on the 19th and so do I. First proper long holiday I've had all year and won't be in till the 5th of Jan. Plenty of sleep. lazing around. listening to music, watching DVDs, mucking about on the computers and boozing!

stevenewman - do you not get time off at all for hospital appointments then? The reason I ask is that' it's never been a problem here thankfully, as I had quite a few visits last year due to eye torubles.

I have had some time off this year, however, I have been told that if I want any more time off it will have to be via annual leave or unpaid. The problem lies in the fact it is my wife going to the hospital, not me. and that's where they raise the objection.

School completely shut 23rd - 2nd inclusive, so cannot get in even if I wanted to. As others have said, Xmas is one of the holidays I always take off anyway. After years working in jobs where I only got Christmas Day off I really do like having a proper Christmas break

Yup I'm working over Christmas unfortunately.

Thankfully nothing major to do other than build a few replacement servers and do a spot of DR drilling - All in all it's going to be a nice and relaxing Christmas at the office!

Plus this year I'm going to dress my desk up with tinsel and lights even more than I did last year!

Ah, I see what you mean now. Some places are more flexible than others when it comes to it being another members of the family.

Unfortunately, it seems like we don't have much of an option. They are opening the school 22nd - but the rest of the time it will be closed. We either use our holidays or we don't get paid.
