Ours are CRA and CRB (computer room....etc with computers named CRA1 etc)
But the staff go on calling them: "the IT suite" and "the computers in the year 8 block"

So we could probably call them Hortense and Engelbert for all the good it would do!

Personal opinion - but I absolutely detest 'naming' servers. I prefer descriptive, boring, titles like 'DC1' (Domain Controller 1), File Server, Print Server, <MIS> Server, etc.

Unfortuantly, for me, my predecessor was of a different opinion. So my servers are currently named after ancient gods - Apollo, Rhea, Chronus, etc.

we used to have homer as a server, but that was when we had one server, so the simpsons theme died pretty quick.
now at this place we just have academic1, admin, firewall, internal
i have to think of server names for when the new network goes in and the servers are flattened.
i do like the muppets theme, "just go to f:....should be labelled as shared on gonzo"
"no, not p:, that's teacher shared on fozzy"

Rooms are as boring as ICT1 - ICT5, then Textiles, Graphics etc etc.

Servers are as boring as xxx-svr-001, but I do have a NAS box called Silo and a proxy called guardian - guess those are still pretty common names though.

Our rooms are named boring things 'ICT-1' through 'ICT-3'... And servers are currently in the process of moving from things like 'AD1' and 'APP1' to Futurama characters such as 'Hermes' for our license management server, 'Professor' for our Citrix cluster etc...

Reason being, staff don't understand names like 'APP1' when you're telling someone to type something, and it ends up being a spelling lesson. Just saying 'Fry' or 'Bender' will be much easier.

I heard of a creative method of naming servers - each was named after a chemical element and the last octal of its IP address was the atomic number of the element.

Which meant that you could use a periodic table as a manual DNS.

We've got IT1, IT2, Green Suite, Library, CADCAM, and the laptop trolley. Boring. However it never ceases to make me roll my eyes when I'm asked (by staff and kids) "which is the green suite?".

Hmm. Let me see...our corporate/wall colours are Lilac, apart from the green suite which is..oh yes..green. Hence the name.

And our servers are all "EDIT90x"...I assume someone at the LEA took the EDIT instruction and thought.."no, it's a suggestion"...

Auxilliary servers are TAW900Zxxx. Every school has a zone (900 in our case) and an identifier..we're 900 (main node for zone 9), then there's 912 etc (probably a primary).

Our severs are named after local place name.

When we go virtual I was hoping to name the servers after local fictious placenames. The only problem being the only one I can think if is Ambridge (the village from the archers).

I opted for Greek Titans when started here

Servers are:
Cronus, Atlas, Hyperion, Prometheus, Oceanus, Rhea, Helios.

I've got some obvious ones too, Intra, Mailex1, Mailex2 & Integris

Computer Rooms are:

Room 39, Computer 1 = RM39-01
Room 39, Whiteboard = RM39-Whiteboard
etc..

pretty boring here too... prepsrv1, prepsrv2 etc

I did an install a while ago at a secondary school migrating from cc3 to vanilla.. they had an interesting user naming policy. They used a colour to represent the year group followed by a number to represent the pupil ie green123 would be a pupil in year 7

to top this off there was no accurate record of which user account related to which pupil... I'm sooooo glad I wasn't involved in that part of the project

i forgot, we also had PHOENiX, which we named after phoenix nights, but staff thought it was because the old server died and this was the new one (phoenix from the flames).
we also had TATTOO, another phoenix nights reference....and it was a small server too
