    iForGodSakeNotAnotherSillyDevice

Is it just me or do other people think the whole i<InserNameHere> naming thing is getting out of hand.

First off, it wouldn't be so bad if just one company stuck to it (I.e. Apple) but every product and it's product's product is named with an i stuck in front of it.

It's like companies actually thing if they add that one letter, it'll make sales better.

I'll tell you what triggered the last thing for me. I was watching Top Gear last night... entertaining as ever. But they did a piece on some Toyota "wheelchair" which was named... guess what... iReal.

It wouldn't be so bad I guess if 99% of the devices named like this aren't rubbish. (That isn't a hit against Apple at all. Their stuff is in the top 1%)

I predict that the next <chooseprefix> will be 'My'.

Already have that in relation to our VLP. MyMail, MyDesktop, MyFilesBox, MyPortfolio, MyPage, which is ironic as no-one even uses what is supposed to be "theirs"!

    groan

I've seen 'My' in a couple of places, but I'm putting money on it exploding once the iMarket has been saturated.

Yeah you could say "when we are up to our i's in it"

I got plenty more where these came from!

Another pet hate is compound words (Germanic style) with mixed caps.

I think EastEnders started it off.

You've got a space bar (or should that be SpaceBar) - use it!!!

It's called CamelCase, but I don't think it was EastEnders that started it.

It's prevalent in programming, where things like FunctionNames need to be one word but easily distinguishable. Don't know if that is its origin though.
