Mines an easy one ... back in the days of PDP/VAX networking uniqueness was needed therefore first 4 of surname plus first two of christian name. Mostly worked but there were exceptions.
I also use Earwig 'O' (hence the earwig avatar) - from what they shout at football matches ...

!10141748" as that was my Uni ID number, and I used it so much I'll never forget it

Yep another boring one my initial and my surname

That's interesting, I wonder how many others have instant recall on their uni number? I do! However, I can't disclose it here as I use it for other things - It'd be a security risk

Mine comes from an old Gary Numan song 'Machman' just changed to include my name. And that song is old, 30years next year!! God I'm old

CS for me too. Originally my nickname at uni was Sparky, but far too many people used it online and at tournies, so it became Sparkeh.

Mine came from school, used to make homemade fireworks/explosives (not in a terrorist way, just for fun in the back garden) and it just stuck.

Oh wow, for a brief time my nickname was pyromark, however I don't know why as there didnt seem to be a reason for it.

Mine was developed from Sanguinius the primarch of my Blood Angels, which is an army from Games Workshops: Warhammer 40'000. And it stuck!

Well mine is from Aldous Huxleys 'Brave New World' with my initials added on to make it unique enough that no matter what I sign up to that username is not normally taken.

Mine is very boring. The names I normally use for online things may cause offence so I went for the name my parents gave me :P

my nick has been the same since I started using the Internet 12+ years ago, I use it because of two reasons, firstly (obviously) because Lots of premonitions happen to me on a very regular basis, and secondly because its the name of a song from my favorite group, Ace Of Base.

Mine's pretty old, as a teenager we'd play msn pirates, boarding other conversations and generally being a nuisance. A powder monkey is a cannon-loading dogsbody, but it needed a nautical twist
