29th October 2008, 04:46 PM #1 Thank you Microsoft support
If anyone out there has ever tried to justify to management the cost of a TechNet subscription then the 2 free support calls that you get more than cover it. They have dug out my new Exchange 2007 server which was queueing email bot inbound and outbound and not putting it in users mailboxes. It turns out that the version of Exchange 2007 I installed (complete with SP1) had config files incompatible with the version version of .Net I had. The guy re-wrote all of the Exchange services config files and now everything is fine
There is no way on this Earth that I would have been able to track down that problem.
So its a big thank you to them (who have saved my life many times over the years), and a damned good reason to get TechNet if you don't already have it.

29th October 2008, 05:29 PM #4 I bought it personally about 4 or 5 years ago. But I have it on my list to purchase for use in school next financial year.

29th October 2008, 06:04 PM #5 Oh yes, they appear to have saved my Bacon with our 5 freezing Fuji servers.Turns out it was the Broadcom NIC software, the kids and staff back in next week will be final test!
Whatever you think of MS, the support (granted it's paid for under schools agreement with us) is top notch!

29th October 2008, 06:07 PM #6 I've kept mine going for years [ school pays for it now ] - I have only ever used the free support once but like Dos Box it got me out of a real pickle - so for that it's worth the money - I have to renew mine this week, was thinking about changing to the on line version.....

I think I could justify the price of the on line version at that price. Especially since it includes a server and SQL license.
