purchacing Acti-votes
I have been asked by our IT co-ordinator to look for prices for acti-votes systems for some classrooms. He went to a school last week and is wanting around six of these.
I have contacted promethean and they will only sell through education resellers.
I need 3 quotes and the prices are massively different.
One company wanted £1,250 each and another wanted just under £1,000 + vat each.
I found a company that is based in Sheffield that is doing a two for one offer of £1,000 for two.
Simply what is the price that the school should be paying and why are the prices so much different for the same equipment

14th October 2008, 04:31 PM #2 we paid around £2k each for 5 units and they have been a good buy. They have now been superseded by another model but we are happy with ours so will be a long time before we upgrade.
Batteries are quite expensive but buy rechargables 2000ma and they will last.

14th October 2008, 04:31 PM #3 First I would check if they actually want activotes or the new activ-expression.
The active-expression are much much better.
Second, how many handsets per set? They come in 2 sizes
Expression in 25 or 32
Activote in 16 or 32
RM tend to be good value on promethean.

WordWallWeb.com
The wordwall product probably has had a lot more use as well as the added bonus of the students using mobile phones as an educational tool which allows them to txt an answer rather the use of multiple choice.

Thanks everyone
We have purchased 6 sets of 32 act-votes today for £3k + delivery which was by far the cheapest.
If anyone would like the same we got them from here Blue Box IT: Welcome.
Thanks for all the quick responses

You can get some good deals on these at the moment. The proper price is 995 per set of 32 but Promethean gave away loads of free sets over the summer to some of their dealers as part of a promotion. Barter as hard as you can, they cost them nothing !!!

If your school needs one, I am selling a brand new 32 set unit.
Check here: Promethean 32 set Activote Set (Brand New)
I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement on the price.
