This site is an amazing resource and it is a real shame that a handful of people are lowering the tone. I think most member will agree that everyone here, members, sponsors, contributors admins etc have done fantastic job turning Edugeek into a valuable resource with a highly professional profile. Please don’t forget that Edugeek are the Technical Help Point at BETT
Thanks to this site and its sponsors I have made new contacts that have helped save me time and money when purchasing new equipment. If this situation keeps going on as it does then I dare say some of these companies going elsewhere. .
Yes the site has evolved over the past 3 years but then with almost 10,000 members that range from trainee Techninians to members of SMTs what do you expect?

1. The company is in the USA so there is little in terms of consumer protection for customers in the UK.

3. CPanel is a massive pain to use when you host a complex site - what happens when you need special requirements?
4. 2000 members does not mean it is as high traffic as this site
Having run a high traffic website myself, which was hitting 100GB of transfer a day (I don't know how much this one is using), I can safely say that the package above would not come close to running such a site - the company would find a clause in the T's&C's and shut it down. Simple.
Oh, and I think this topic should likely be locked as it appears to be a pointless debate really.

The company are hardly going to give you 5TB of disk space they haven't got....

There are no Edugeek problems which cannot be solved through suitable application of high explosives.

That's OK - I found it myself. Feel free to point out the member that used the same language as you, & we'll gladly deal with it... http://www.edugeek.net/forums/ffs/21...-delivery.html

AHuxham: I am concerned about the issues you mention and would like to take action if you can pm me about it
Grommit: Where do you get off insulting me and others? How come it is OK for you to be so rude?
I am a mod. I have never made, neither do I expect ever to make, a single penny out of Edugeek. Neither do I do what I do because of sponsorship or corporate anything.
I do it because I want to keep the site available for everyone: a very useful resource and also a place where Educational IT techs can relax and have a bit of fun. Without insults, rudeness, flaming or 'jokes' that are in poor taste.
As far as I am concerned, the great majority of Edugeekers are pleasant, friendly people who know when not to go too far. They don't need telling what to do as they are responsible adults who can behave in an appropriate fashion.
If you see something you don't like, report it please, that is what it is for. We will sort it but you do have to give us a little bit of time.
If you have a genuine worry or issue, speak to a mod or admin.

cheeeeeell out people. It's simple, if you dont like it, dont come here. If you feel unfairly treated at least ensure that you've reported the post you think is unfair and that action has been taken (rather than assuming the other party has been let off!)
This has turned into a huge debate that need not be had, if you want to be on here then be respectful and at least try to toe the line. If your so dissillusioned you dont get anything from the site then it might be best if you just leave until such a time that you feel you do get something from the site.

Hey Grommit - look over there--------->
To anyone who does not listen to any adverts on BRMB radio - this will mean absolutely nothing.

Could someone run a poll on how many sponsors etc have read this thread. and how happy they are about it.
Is anyone ever going to lock this thread? It's gone from the sublime to the ridiculous
