Well i think that's what i'm looking for.
You lot are pretty knowledgeable...someone must know.
My friend is a popular street artist in Brum with a website and what not and now owns a shop. Yesterday he was horrified to find that a lot of his artwork has been copied from places and is being used for background images on mobile phone sites and myspace theme sites.
I'm not clear on whether or not people are selling them, but he has been in touch with a solicitor who has said he needs to find out if the company has assest otherwise there's no real point claiming. The solicitors can do it for him but obviously at a cost.
Anybody know if there is a way of finding the info out?
Thanks

If it's background images on mobile phone sites, they're probably being sold. Find out the name of the company, then do a search at Companies House and see if they filed any accounts last year.

you can get the accounts of (Public limited?) companies from companies house:

Before he goes down the route of paying expensive lawyers to do things, he might want to simply discuss the situation with the sites involved. I'm sure that MySpace, in particular, has a procedure for dealing with copyright violations. He could, actually, look upon this as free advertising - maybe get MySpace / phone sites the direct people who like his work to his website?
