Cool Wallpapers
Before any says it, not the stuff you hang on the walls!
What you do guys have as your desktop background? often get bored and change it reasonably frequently but sometimes struggle to find a decent background.
Also what about the kids/staff desktop do you give them a 'corporate' background. We do in order to highlight if a member of staff leaves a machine whilst still logged on!
I'm currently using one of the blue ones... http://www.rakaz.nl/nucleus/index.php?itemid=10

I've said it before. Using different wallpaper colours to signify different groups is a fantastic way of telling who is logged on as someone they should not be.

As for students/staff they have a plain blue background with a school badge on and username and machine info generated by bginfo. I do like the idea of different colours though I may try that.

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/BgInfo.html It generates wallpaper with values you want it to. I have username, MAC address Disk space left etc displayed on the screen. It is run when the user logs on through the log in script.
Saves logging off students to grab a mac address and such for troubleshooting net access etc.

1st December 2008, 10:41 PM #9 We normally have a plain blue background with the school logo, but i have just given the students a Christmas Tree with some snowmen sat around it. thought it would brighten the place up a bit and it brought a smile to the teachers faces when they saw it for the first time, and the kids have a little giggle.
Think im going to continue when it gets to special 'events'. world cup, olympics, notable dates. etc etc. a bit like google does.
keeps the morale up!!

Yep thats what we do with the Christmas wallpapers. This year we will use a Christmas theme for the website as well.

2nd December 2008, 09:44 AM #11 I have a series of themed wallpapers that i have made. Just a slight difference to the normal but the kids seem to enjoy it. I have even made a st paddys one for next year and replaced the bishops hat on our logo with a guinness hat! not sure if i will use it yet but the options there.

Its had a little post production, in that the lights from the houses have been blacked out and the saturation has been tweaked by a few points. Otherwise its pretty much the way it looked that night, its certainly very close to the way it looked with the naked eye.
