    Re: funnymis-pronounciations

I myself got asked why I needed to hold onto a laptop that I had wiped and setup again, as I told the teacher I needed to hang on to it to "try something out with it".

She asked "what?" and I was about to start explaining and then decided to say "Well, are you gonna understand if I try and explain it to you?" and she said "no, probably not. Its ok. Keep the laptop for a bit" lmao

I doubt I could have explained that I needed to use it, along with another computer, to try and test out a VPN/Firewall router using multiple IP ranges and testing connectivity between them.... etc

Hell, I hardly understand it myself yet lol

Do they think it will give you too many good ideas? Or just thelanguage content getting caught on the filters?

In a school these days spelling and grammar have gone the way of the archimedes, the slide rule and the dodo. You should see the quality or reports our lot have produced for years 7 and 8...........
In the end the admin staff were all asked to down tools and correct the millions of errors!!!!! And these are degree educated people?
One member of Senior Management said "the young ones are so used to spell checkers and that auto correction thingy....."
I find it all rather sad.......

My favourite one I have heard so far is when people pronounce linux as leenux or leenix or something along those lines lol. LMAO @ The piece of paper on the door with 4 columns and choosing a made up excuse why things arent working LOL.

    :-)

This thread really cheered me up!

We call it "blinding them with rocket science" at work. You just grab a handful of acronyms and concepts and fling them at the poor people and watch their reaction!

This last week someone asked me why the two sites hadn't been linked yet (second in ICT actually) so I told the person why. I said, "you do understand what an IP address is don't you?" Their face said it all....

    Great stuff.
