Default Household Appliances - Some Recommendations Please!

I've got to buy a few appliances for my flat. I have a useless iron that doesn't get creases out and always seems to self clean on my clothes when ironing. So... I'd like to get a new iron, something not too expensive under £50. But not a self cleaning iron!

Also, with winter coming and not being able to dry clothes due to the rain I need to get a dryer. I don't want to drill any holes in the wall (not my flat!) so it needs to be a condenser dryer. Again, not too expensive!

So, I'd be very grateful if anyone can post some recommendations!

Oh dear, not ironing again! Seems to be the second favourite topic on these boards next to IT. I vote for no iron, the creases soon drop out after you've worn them for a while!

On the dryer front, do be aware that they consume a LOT of electricity. We got rid of ours, and it saved us a small fortune in power!

Mike.

Could get rid of the missus, she consumes a lot of electricity too.

+1 for no ironing. And dispense with the tumble dryer.

We've got an Indesit Dryer (condenser), had it for 18 months now and the wife assures me that it's brilliant, sorry but i've no idea what model it is or what we paid for it.

Get the tumble drier, but dispense with the iron. If you get stuff out of the drier quickly give it a good shake and put it straight on hanger, it's unlikely that ironing will be needed
