As people have said get lot of lurkers if you could see ip and emaill domains no one would ever post here

But that is how communities are only 10% of membership will post on regular frequency, 20% will post irregularly and then 70% will lurk (numbers are est there is some research onto communities that I can't get my hands on the moment that gives same sort of %).

No other forum really cares about the nitty gritty, its just the total.
I have lots of "idle" accounts that never get removed and I would be annoyed if they were.
i have my own forum with over a thousand members and if someone has not been active for 6 months we sand them an email and if nothing happens I delete their account

The Grand total is worthless how amny have not logged of for 3 months ?.. it the number of active posters the really counts

Well your a rare one and that would be very damaging as I would not rejoin a site ever if my account was removed. There are several sites I dont regularily log in to and the email me but I dont care tbh. I know I have an account and if I happen to go there again I will login but otherwise I wont just start living on it again because I got a email.

Whats the site url out of interest?

I would agree that 'closed' sites where content cannot e viewed without an account could easily have accounts deleted if inactive for a few months. EduGeek contains a huge amount of pulically available content which non-members find useful.

If someone posts one helpful piece of info, is that not as worthwhile as the 9000+ posts that 'Geoff the Google Bot' has posted?

Some say his subconscious is linked to the internet via token ring and that he won't take a bite unless it's divisible by 8. All we know is, he's called Geoff.
