You need to create what's known as a Workgroup. You can then share printers and files between both computers.

What do you want to share between both computers?

I thought you couldn't do this with XP home, only XP pro?
That's incorrect, you can join a workgroup in XP Home and share files and printers.I thought you couldn't do this with XP home, only XP pro?
With XP Pro you can join a workgroup or a domain.
Only limitations on a workgroup are the maximum of 5 connections for an xp home and 10 for pro.
