I just don't think unison has that much power. And they don't seem to like upsetting the labour government that they support so much.

Well not sure if thats true, in last years pay campaign they urged us all to strike and demanded 4%. We voted to accept the 2.45% - so what can they do?

Not as dangerous as being a frontline soldier in Afghanistan or Iraq and most soldiers out there get paid half that of tanker drivers
