I used to be a massive fan, but after they destroyed three BL cars in the last series (apparently the Dolomite was in very good condition, the Princess not bad and SD1 doors can't fly off like that unless they're doctored) I'm begining to loose interest, especially now that almost any vaguely techical/engieering subject that comes up is discussed with an attitude of "We know nothing..." so prevalent in IT users...

There is a rundown in this months TG Mag about all the things they are going to do.
Off the top of my head -
3 Alfas for £1000 or less challenge
Nissan GTR Vs Bullet Train in Japan
Old Merc Vs Old Bentley/Rolls
German Car Prog Vs Top Gear (Sabine Schmit and 2 others)
And loads more I cant remember

What you didn't see was all the support vessels etc that they probably had in case of failure

How is that staging something? That's just common sense! What if they had sank with the presenters out at sea? How would they have filmed it?

Yep, they have to have all this sort of stuff in place Gibbo, Helf n' Safety, innit? The big cheeses'd have a fit if they did these sorts of stunts without backup. Also, after the amount of near misses and mishaps (and Hamster's little jet car prang) that Top Gear have had, they have to be double sure that when things go tits-up, they can sort it out.

Aye well, there's having support vessels/divers in case someone capsizes their pickup while crossing the channel, and then there's sexed up set pieces that look cool
