Cheers for this. I'm currently on 20 days plus BHs and school closures, and have been for 5 years this month. My existing contract says nothing about additional days according to length of service so this sounds like it will be good for me!
Yeah - but bear in mind that the total statutory holidays includes the Bank Hols - so your entitlement is 20 & BHs - so you're not "entitled" to more.

Found out earlier from the county personal people that I get 24 days + 2 at Christmas + bank holidays working on a full time contract. That's four days more then I originally thought I was getting!

Also found out that my line manager and the head don't have a problem with me taking it during term time as they understand the need to do lots of stuff during the holidays

59 days a year here, that's school holidays - 6 days that I am contracted to come in. Also get bank holidays and study days off.

Its a good deal and the reason I moved into the educational sector.

Well, the statutory minimum has now raised to a total of twenty-eight days rather than twenty-five.

Sadly those twenty-eight days can include the eight bank holidays.

Aha! Thanks for that, I get holiday pay "rolled up" so this means an increase in the hourly rate .

33 days - but been with the LEA for 14 years now - we can only take a max of 5 days during term time, although my wife is the 2nd in Faculty at my school so school hols suit me fine !

My leave isn't that bad then

I have a total of nearly 10 years in education, 4 at a sixth form college and 5 1/2 at secondary school. Don't forget that if you move from one education establishment to another that the service time rolls on, so after my first year in my school position i was entitled to an extra 5 days which now takes me up to 29 days.

Like most, it started off having to take time off during school holidays, but, as i'm sure you guys already know - loads more stuff can be done during the holidays. So now i've nearly enough got the school agreeing to allow me at least 10 to 14 days off during normal school time. My techie can handle things fine, and he's allowed to have time off during normal school hours as well.

It means we can do and plan more for the summer term break and we work less hours in the summer anyway. Later start and earlier finishing!!! Oh, and holidays are way cheaper when the little pupils are at school and we are sunning it on a beach in the med!

    Cheers!
