what situations/decisions would you refer to your manager/supervisor (who in my case is an ass. headteacher).
Staff who disagree with something you've done to improve the network in some way, demanding that it be changed, would probably be sent to your manager/supervisor?

4th May 2008, 07:10 PM #3 mostley deal with stuff myself: prioritising work, changing passwords, imaging, diagnosing faults, installing software etc etc
Anything more major I refer up for a decision (well, I'm supposed to....)
Things I refer up: quotes for kit awaiting final decision (not mine to make, alas!). Situations where I have been asked to do something IMMEDIATELY and I feel that I have other things that are more important. I refer up if something I have done has displeased someone!

I mean, Im sure I do this all the time

But cannot think right now so..
Thanks

The answer to that question will vary depending on what you're role and responsibilities are. In my case i make the decisions for IT purchases and get the quotes required, strategic decisions are done in consultation, but technical situations and decisions the buck stops with me...so no manager or supervisor to refer to.
EduIT's right, the ICT manager or ICT coordinator is the conduit between the users and the technical manager and technical staff. It is for them to iron out any creases with the userbase. That is referring a situation to a manager i would imagine
