30th April 2008, 08:45 AM #3 Bye - have a nice time!
You are allowed to stay around, like Midget does, and one or two others.
I have a friend who is an IT tech in the NHS and from the stories he tells, it is very similar to education - oh, except the consultants are gods!

Good luck matey..heh. I agree with the interesting bit...however, I've stayed through 3 mass staff exodus', 2 new heads, 2 new entire department staff changes, 3 heads of department, a federation, and at least 1 threat of closure...interesting times are ALWAYS happening here..

30th April 2008, 10:03 AM #5 Have fun, but I’m sure doctors/surgeons are going to be more anal with the
"I'm a qualified professional and save lives! You're effectively killing people by not fixing my computer!!"
At least I can hope that’s how your life will be now you're out of education :P
Oh... and good luck

been here 8 years now..heh. We've pretty much lost all the original staff now. Most ran away scared. Last big exodus/change was..erm..2005ish. So, most of it was in a 5 year period. It's reckoned there may be another not far away..I'm watching with interest (and a cuppa and biscuit).
What happens, happens..it's an interesting ride, and there's no point in getting off just in case it gets a bit hairy..
That's always been my outlook when advised to "get out while you can"..by my HODs/Managers..."No, I believe I'll stay and see what shakes loose, but thankyou..and it was nice working with you".
So far, I've been justified. Compared to 8 years previous, this is a dream. Besides, new facility in 2009..new kit to play with, new servers, our own ship instead of LEA controlled (thus far)..how can I resist? I'll be like a kid in a sweetie shop..
