28th April 2008, 12:12 PM #1 A Question for you IT/Network Managers
Hi Guys/Gals,
I've got a question for you. Apparently us support personel will be getting apprasials soon and I want to be prepared when it happens.
So I was wondering if the IT/Network Managers here would be able to answer the following questions (I know it's been done already, however I would like a more up-to-date one, especially since the new financial year has started).
1. What is your current salary range?
2. How many people do you have in your department?
3. How many PC's/Servers do you support?
4. What other systems do you support (eg IP camera's, VLE, Sims, telephone system, etc)?
5. Do you support any other organisations (eg primary schools, private businesses, etc) IT wise as part of your working week?
Thanks to all that answer
-Ken

28th April 2008, 12:26 PM #3 1. PO3/4 on the old scales - currently £32k ish (after pro rata for Term time only +2)
2. 4 in dept - me, 1 senior tech, 2 junior tech
3. 600 PC's + staff laptops + 8 servers
4. SIMS (both technically + data management), VLE, CCTV, phones, website, performing arts inc sound, lighting and recording studio, projectors, IWBs, PA kit, pretty much any other items that plug in
5. We support about 10 primary schools. This ranges from 2 hrs per week to full days per week for them, redesiging and rebuilding networks, teaching KS2 modules such as data logging and control technology - the usual stuff.
All of us are term time only +2 or +4 weeks so we have 1 bod in most hols.
Hope that helps.
