My school said that i would get my contract 2-3 months after i started but i know someone else who is a business man and guidelines state that your supposed to get a contract on the first day of employment which has lead me to worrying why all along if this is true why i didnt get my contract untill later on. If the guidelines doesnt apply to all contracts and if i received my contract at the right time stated then i am fine with that, but from the beginning i was expecting to get my contract when i first started work but i was wrong. I also thought that my contract would be dated and revised on the first date of work and not revised and printed 3-4 months after i started work.

Could it possible as well as someone else said in another post that my contract could of changed before i received it? Might explain why i received it late? Also if i was to be let off at the end of August doesn't your employer have to give you something like a 6 month notice from what iv been told? If thats so then i dont think getting my contract 5 months after starting work and then being told about my notice a month after is right.

Does your contract not state how much notice they'll give you? Since it's a temporary contract it may be enough to tell you that your employment will end on such date.

I need to dig the contract out of somewhere with all my documents, but last time i checked all the contract said was that the notice will be given from your employer and they should let you know asap. Also yes it stated clearly that my last day of employment will be the 31st of Augast.

Also i cant believe i am up at this time moaning about this lol!

You'll probably find that a weeks notice will be given unless otherwise stated.

Yeah, It'll be likely it will be stated from my employer but surely they should give you more than a week for notice if it really is down to the Budget?

They don't have to since you'll only have been working for a year. The reason why they don't renew your contract is irrelevant and doesn't affect the amount of notice they have to give. It's a temporary contract.
