A few of my schools are into having a box of eggs delivered and watching the egss hatch.
I've got webcams going (like this one with a picture being updated every 20 seconds with the previous few minutes being shown as a set of thumbnails and videos made up of stored thumbnails.
But I'd like to know if I can go one better and stream live video out to the world.
I've seen a few products (UStream for example) butthey all require ports opening and that just isn't going to happen with our RBOC before pink pigs float about
Has anyone been able to stream through a firewall or got any off-the wall ideas on how to do it even.
regards
Simon
What don't you encode the video and embed into a flash video control on the school website, there are also hosting providers you can use to host the video and setup secure access...
I'll see if i can locate the name of a company that one of our colleagues used to do just this.
couldn't find the name of the company, but these guys offer a similar service...

@torledo
I'm after live (or very near live - don't mind a bit of delay) broadcasting - the current webcam/jpg system gives that but with gaps

Simon
PS if you have a look at my current setup you'll see what I'm trying to better.
flash broadcasting as provided by the likes of groovygecko is real-time.
We've broadcast 'live' interviews over the internet using dv cameras,...quality isn't great and there is that slight delay but it works.
Have a word with them, as i'm pretty confident they can do what you're asking
