We are considering hiring a PFY to assist me 2/3 days a week so that I don't have to run around like a headless chicken.
We don't have a huge amount of money for a proper technician so we are considering a work placement kind of scheme or some kind of training scheme where we can get away with paying very little.
Does anybody in Lancashire currently run a scheme like this that could help me out on where to start looking for someone? Ideally, I think a university-type bod would be best but 16-19 is also an option.

We have (or have had - he's just been taken on "properly") a Modern Apprentice from Preston College - with us 5 days a week and paid, I think, relatively peanuts. Apparently they are desperate for placements - might be worth you looking into?

Hmmmm, I recall the problems that Preston College had several years ago with their IT dept and infrastructure. They will learn more out of that place than in it I suspect.

Re: Part Time PFY
Well - he doesn't go into college at all - it's all 'on the job'. By the sounds of it, he's better off! His tutor comes every couple of weeks or so, but that's it!
