Hi All,
Well i am sorry but i have to share this hilarious yet so shocking moment with you.
Member of staff walks into my office today and the following coversation starts:
Staff: Hi, i deleted a file of my computer Friday last week!
Me: ok right
Staff: well the thing is i realised i actually need it again, i was wondering if i turned the clock on my computer back to friday which was the 4th would i get the file back?
Me: Laughing in histerics at her ended up walking out the room!!!
How can someone come out with that, i have heard somethings in my time but sorry that was just one of the most ridiculous things anyone has said to me. She feels so stupid now and is still asking why i just burst out laughing
Anyways just wanted to share

Quick, employ her as a usability designer. That's probably how it should work - you should be able to just wind back the clock - it's the ultimate undo. The fact that we haven't delivered it yet, doesn't make it a dumb idea.
Imagine if in order to debug a program, you could just rewind it to before the problem occurred, change something, play it forward again, again and again until you got it right? Cool, huh?

9th April 2008, 09:07 AM #6 @davyboi: Well they could be lucky and the autorecovery file might be there.
LOL.. Tell her that if you turned the clock back you could mess with the space time continuum.

You have to admit, that is so exactly how things should work. Doesn't Mac OS X have a "time machine" feature something very much like this?

9th April 2008, 09:33 AM #12 It's a good idea for a restore interface though isn't it? a sort of H G Wells Brass Clock Icon that takes you back to an earlier state, even as far back as Windows 95 ;-)
But on a serious note I would never embarass a workmate like that, I think the role of ICT Pro is almost a religious calling, ours is esoteric knowledge we can share discreetly, and if you get a reputation for helpfulness and subtlety, it's amazing the things people will tell you
