TV Media studio - tenders needed!
I am not going to go into the reasons behind this post, suffice to say those who get paid several times a year what I do, have, IMHO, messed up, and the ICT Technican is AGAIN going to get them out of the poo.... subsequently, I rather urgently need to find some answers to a 'project' that has been placed at my door.
We are in the process of developing a TV Media studio, and I need to find companies in the South East (East Sussex) who can help me with this.
I am looking for companies who have experience in this field, particularly in the educational sector - companies who can offer a variety of alternatives in setting such a thing up.
We need everything you'd expect to find in a school TV studio, but what that is, i really don't know!
Can anyone suggest some companies I can ring? We already have someone called White Light (?) but they are apparently too expensive or something!
Would appreciate any positive help offered. TIA

7th April 2008, 07:48 PM #2 IF cost is going to be an issue, you might prefer not to think of the project as bulding a TV studio, with old school regional bbc cast off cameras.....but as a multicam recording setup with some basic components such as.... new dv cameras, vision mixers, wireless mics, real-time effects platform etc, basic lighting kit, green screen etc.
Not as difficult once you know what you need to get started
In other words, get some advice from the filmmaking community and any companies but you might want to consider D.I.Ying it.

I like it! "We don't know what we need or how much it will cost but that is too expensive"
Check out ICT Register for details of other schools that have already done this. I quickly did a search for 'television' and a few possibilities appeared.

Use the ICT Register to request a contact. They are extremely helpful.

I know, it's infuriating... AIUI, the company in question are leaders in their field, so we are undoubtedly being quoted for what we need, but at a cost we (apparently) can't afford, so we are now going to get what we can afford which probably isn't going to be what we need!

Thanks for that - have posted a request (read: plea) for help. Fingers crossed.

8th April 2008, 09:31 AM #7 White Light (unless there is another one) are lighting and, to a lesser extent, sound specialists for the theatre. Quite good, broad range of experience, and came up trumps on an install we've just had done.
That said, they wouldn't strike me as the ones to go to for a TV studio. There is a company in or around Ipswich that I've heard recommended several times for this type of work. I can't find the link, but I'll keep looking!
