C'mon, one of you 12 people must think that the Prius is:
1. Ugly
2. A waste of money
3. Not a proper car
4. A bit wimpish at having a 1.5 litre engine.
Hmm I think there is a South Park episode where everybody gets them and they create a big cloud of smug.
ah yes south park....
thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks!!
Most of the reviews I've read suggest that they're not any more efficient or environmentally friendly than a modern diesel engine. Most of which these days can all average around 50 mpg in a small family hatchback.
Another thing that's always puzzled me is surely the batteries will need replaced every 5 years as eventually they'll lose they'll ability to hold charge? Given the price of a single car battery I'd expect you'd be looking at around a 4 figure sum to replace all of them in the Prius?
thats the pic!!!
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS!!
hehe. nice one.
Thanks! - Clips - South Park Studios
so hilarious!!

lmao at that southpark episode! Id put Prius drivers just below 4x4 drivers in $%$%££^£$*
Yeah i invented that word

Had a treat last night. Poser neighbour came back last night with his beloved Porsche GT3 on an AA recovery truck. Minus its front end. A HGV took it off for him in a motorway service station carpark whilst he was inside having a coffee. Ouch.

Meh, I'm not too bothered about the Prius - it is a good start into the world of reducing emissions from vehicles, but it isn't the saviour of the planet.
Personally, I'd just buy a smart car![]()
1: Yep, even the old Avensis is better looking
2: Yep, only makes sense in town, on longer trips a TDi would be a lot more economical
3: I wouldn't say that, at least unlike a smart/G-shizzle it has 5 seats and a boot
4: Apparently acceleration's not bad (with electric motor assitance) but the damned thing weighs a tonne and it comes fitted with michelin "economy" tyres, which are a fair bit less grippy than standard ones.
All in all, I'll stick to my 1.8 litre Alfa![]()

He does know that the area where they mine the ores and minerals for the batteries in those things is now such barron waste land that Nasa use it to test moon buggies.
Most people are expecting a Hybrid to last about 7 years, about half the life or a normal car. So basicaly the environmental impact of creating and disposing of it has to be considered to be twice that of a normal car. That's before we get onto the particular problems presented by the batteries.
Then we have to consider that the car is built in japan and shipped in a smog belching ship half way round the world (oh and that nasty hole in the ground I mentioned is in the US, the the batteries have done a three quarter circuit of the earth).
Slap him repeatedly until he sees sense and buys a sensible, simple, european car. If he really wants to buy into this carbon crap he should give up flying, or buying anything imported from outside europe.
Cars are actualy one of the most enviromentaly forms of transport.
I guess you don't like them? ;-)
