Does anyone know of schools close to airports etc. that provide this service? I guess there are legal complications like insurance.

Not much help but the only thing I could suggest is (unless someone is actually from a school near one) contact the caretaker & ask, explaining you are from a school. Don't ask don't get.

Several schools in Norwich offer their car parks for a fee to people to park on and go shopping during the holidays so I guess it's possible.

Thanks, I was looking for some form of precedent before approaching schools.
One of the schools in Coniston (secondary I think) allows tourists to park on their car park at weekends and holidays for a donation. Very useful it is too.

There are loads of schools around Twickenham that do this - we parked at one for a match at the rugby stadium.
Most take payment through PayPal, it seems!

In hols our carpark gets used by connexion staff from down road (in term time they have to pay car parking fees in local carpark)

I'm guessing it mostly depends on who, exactly, owns the land the school is on. Parkside in central Cambridge gets used for parking during the Christmas break, and St. Bede's gets used for every year for the Cambridge Folk Festival - brings a fair wodge of cash in, too, I think.

The local gypsies often enjoy the free use of our school car park (and indeed, playing fields). Trouble is it's not just during the holidays though.
