Hi guys, We were down on space on one of our drives (1.34GB left) and I have managed to get it up to 4.50GB just by resizing jpeg files. Pretty crazy I thought!
Rob.
I have had to do that before. I posted a script for its automation somewhere. My subtle hints for them to stop using MSPaint have gone ignored for 3 years even though we have paint.net and Fireworks in every room and some have Photoshop elements!
Serif Photoplus is the worst. If you save it normally you get a 20MB file! Staff don't understand the concept of exporting rather than saving. I'm just going through some of them now!

I regularly use the xp power toy image resizer along with a search for jpegs on our image dump area.
I leave it going over night, resizeing them to 1200 x 1024 which is approx 80kb - 120 kb instead of the native 800kb for the school digi cameras and 3 - 5 megs for the posh ones people bring in from home.
If they want full res it goes in their user area.
Haha. No way. Staff here won't even be able to tell the difference!
Rob.
Yeh when you go down to art and they're complaining the computers are slow they understand why when you zoom the picture to it's actual size and don't have it at 13% lol.
