    Reusing a CRB disclosure

I know people have asked for help with things in the past and it's been taken as the general consensous that a crb is not transferable apart from within our own lea.

    According to:

    http://www.crb.gov.uk/Default.aspx?page=1871

I already have a Disclosure, can I use it again?
If you are asked to apply for a Disclosure and you already have one for a previous role; ask if the organisation is willing to accept it. When making this decision the organisation will take into account the length of time that has elapsed since that Disclosure was issued; the level of Disclosure; the nature of the position for which the Disclosure was issued; and the nature of the position for which you are now applying. Ultimately, it will be the organisationís decision whether to accept it or not.
    It's down to the organisation.

I *believe* the underlying issue is that when a CRB check goes through they can phone up your authorized person and say Don't employ this person... but we can't tell you why (e.g. an ongoing investigation but no arrests so wouldn't show up on the check).

Obviously a new employer wouldn't have this information which is why many require a new check.

Obviously this is just my understanding of it and could be completely wrong.

I find that very hard to believe but it's a possibility I suppose.

But as it states if you have a crb allready it's up the organisation employing you or that you may be volunteering for wether they accept your existing crb or not.

Yes that is true but most las have in place rules that say must have a new crb at each la. Due to the fact that been few big profile cases etc.

Never mind just needing a CRB for each LA - I work in two schools in the same LA and was required to do two CRB checks, and I am also governor for two schools in another LA - same again: two CRB checks. All within a short space of time, too! What a waste of money
