    A document management system?

Has anyone here got a document management system in place in their school?

We have roughly 90,000 files in our public area, and 300,000 in our teacher's private areas.

And as such things can be a little hard to find at times.

Has anyone implemented anything to ease this problem? I have been looking at the Google Appliance (the non-mini one,as the mini one has too small a capacity). Has anyone else looked into this?

We had a play around with Knowledge Tree for a while

    http://www.knowledgetree.com/

But this didn't result in a production system.

    Nope but thought about it.

    Quick google gives various options:

    http://www.xinco.org/ is one of them.

Allthough I'd prefer a clientless one.

One of our advertisers (INVU) demonstrated their document management system at the DPA seminar that DB and I were at... it was VERY nice and not as expensive as you might think!

I believe Centerprise are their reseller.

Ever thought of a Sharepoint Document Library? You can then search away in it

We are just rolling out Sharepoint for better or worse. An open source one I looked at ages ago was OWL, which runs on Apache/PHP/MYSQL

Another vote for Knowledge tree I've downloaded and installed it on an XP VM and it looks good even have active directory logins working straight out of the box.
