Get there early - this will be the day when the unexpected will go wrong!

    Good luck!

Shorter Notice, Sharper Focused OfSTED inspections are now common place with the emphasis being on Self Evaluation.

Soon we will have no notice inspections being the norm according to HMI Christine Gilbert!

Good Luck you should be fine!

i love ofsted days its the quietest time of the year.

we get the yobs shipped out.

The staff are all in before 8am and there is no last minute running around in fact its a GREAT time they should come more often

Agreed. We just had ofsted before xmas. Before it, it was manic, during it it was quiet. Except for the fact we had our panto on the night of one of the days, and a rehearsal on the other...

IMO the Ofsted inspections SHOULD be no-notice. As soon as teachers know ofsted is coming, they suddenly spring to life and actually do all the things they are supposed to do ALL THE TIME but don't bother to.

I doubt that many other jobs let you ignore key things (such as actually planning the ICT lessons) every day but for 1 in 3 years

note; thats not a teacher-bash, and I'm not saying that all teachers do this. But they certainly DO put on a show for Ofsted, when what they do on that 1 day should be what's done EVERY day.

I think the one day visits are more of a case of being subject specific. One of my primaries had a single day inspection but they just looked at geography. The other 'standard' ofsted visits were the three day short notice affair looking at everything, but as has been said they seem to look now to see if all the paperwork is in place rather than concentrate on an inspection of teaching standards for periods of time i.e. a whole lesson, now its usually 10-15 mins or 30 mins at most from my experience so far.

We had our ofsted inspection recently, im quite annoyed actually, we in the office all had to go out and about at breaks/lunch times for the 2 days they were here to help with the lunch time dutys........

now teachers get paid for doing this, as do the science technicians who do it, when i asked about this i was told i wouldnt get a thing, not impressed especially considering since then my manager has taken up doing lunch time dutys as a daily thing and is now getting paid for it!

2 lunch times wasted, i could have been sat on my arse doing nothing in all that time!!!

Why didn't you just go home an hour (or how ever long your lunch is) earlier. They can't really stop you as you're still doing your hours.

do not panic, I found these 1 days are much better than when ofsted was in for a week. If you work in IT technical, chances are you wont see them.

We had Ofsted in today but they were only in English and the first thing we were told when we got into class was be good because ofsted are in and anyone that played up was send to their named contacts or somewhere else in the school. lol
