Our kids are particularly useless and forgetful, hence we get a Friday pub lunch rather than pizza.
Witch saidAre you the technician with no name?"Can you tell the technician that the computers in the other suite are taking a long time to load...."
When did you change that….
That wasn’t there before.
Happens far to often. Like this morning when someone came to pick up their laptop that had been left lying around saying said that’s not mine, I don’t recognise xx and yy. It was there laptop and the stuff they didnt recognise had been on the case for over a yaer.
Hey what’s that new box on the wall? You mean the 3 year old amp with volume button for your interactive whiteboard and speakers?
I have an ICT teacher that every so often informs me that the network seems very sticky today!!
Too which I usually reply sorry I am sure I washed my hands after cake!
What I think it really means is that she didn’t know how to do something whilst teaching..!
"The kids are finding games with polar bears, can you block polar bears?"
No, apparently I don't have a name - and I am thinking of putting up my various qualifications so that least I can be 'the engineer' rather than the technician!!
Today I asked the teacher whose class were allowed in the the IT suite to 'play' last lesson to be very vigilant near the 4 new machines with TFTs as the children were likely to get a bit excited about them.
She looked me up and down and said, scathingly; "I do have a whole class to look after, you know"
"But, I can't do that..i'm a TEACHER..."..heh..you can't expect a teacher to manage a room..OMG..be fair now... I sometimes get asked to scan the CCTV for some piddling infraction like a child hiding the projector remote, or on one occasion getting a paper plane in the back of the head (and it was a bloody good shot too, we saved it for posterity)..and you see either:
1. Teachers sat at a PC doing their own thing, while the class goes to hell
2. Teachers assisting one kid, oblivious to others running/buggering about, throwing things, leaving the room etc
3. Teachers just standing around doing little or nothing to enforce law
4. Teacherless classrooms where they've nipped out(!)
5. A big post-it slapped on the camera saying "SOD OFF!"
6. A well controlled lesson with good kids, as opposed to the usual candidates for the "daily happy sunshine bus for little people who lick windows".
We usually change passwords to "muppet". Serves as a point.
We have speculated about charging for changes though..hmm.
I didn't say anything but I am going to have to do something, as by next week 2/3 of the machines in that suite will be all singing and dancing, with TFTs and optical mice. The suite is in a block housing the top year (8) and they wander in and out all the time.
Has anyone any ideas of what to do? Notices? Warnings? What to say to teachers?
