Or rebuild the school site using wordpress. WordPress (along with other cms) do a stunning job of serving up to mobile devices. To be honest unless we were doing a very big job wouldn't even dream of doing a site any other way.

There's a nice app for wordpress to make it incredibly easy to update it on the move too.

I sound like a right sad act but I can't big up wordpress enough. There's plugins to make it do anything you want to. You can set it up to automatically talk to social media, so say you post something on the website it'll automatically post about it on the Facebook page and/or tweet about it too.

+1 for Schoolcomms - especially their support. It'll tick off the app as well as emailing and a txt service. If you make an app that only supports one platform you'll irritate most of your users. Make sure your website platform is mobile friendly and bear in mind that when people are accessing from a mobile they're probably just looking for a specific piece of information quickly. I would look at social media to bring it together: embed the feeds on your website and your digital displays and you only have to update the information in one place, plus provides something for your parents who would be your audience for an app.

    Just my opinion....
