Interview questions for Apprentice Position
I was wondering if anyone can think of some good interview questions for our apprentice position. Trying to find questions that are not too difficult is quite a challenge and any thoughts would be much appreciated.

1. You see a student put a mouse in their bag, what do you do?
2. A problem comes up with a printer, what would you do first?
3. A user can't log on a computer, what should you check?
4. How would you trouble shoot a mouse not working in a computer?
5. What do you know about TCP\IP?
6. Have you any experience with Active Dirctory?
7. What would you use a computer for in a normal day?
8. Any experience that would help you working in a school?

Practical test wise...
What are these?
Give them basic PC components or pieces of common kit. Ask them to tell you everything they know about them.
Anyone who wants to be an IT apprentice should at least know what the internals of a PC are and have seen a mini switch even if it is part of a router
We have used variously: a sata hard drive, a stick of ram from a desktop and a stick of ram from a laptop, a 5 port mini switch, a WiFi point, a POE injector, and a home router.
Make this work?
Give them a complete PC in a box and ask them to set it up (Screen, mouse, keyboard, PC.)
What's wrong with this?
Show them a PC with something obvious disconnected.
