I had never really looked at bowies work in any great detail until earlier this year, just assumed heroes and ziggy stardust was all there was to him....how wrong i was;
Ashes to ashes is now my new favourite song of all time, replacing comfortably numb by pink floyd which held that position for over 3 years.
I would recommend getting a greatest hits of his work if you haven't already done so, ashes to ashes wasn't one of the three bowie songs voted into a top 100 songs survey by bbc2 a couple of years ago which i think was a travesty....it's by far his best song imo.
