There are imaginative ways that they can be used too. Elsewhere I moderate a forum where "Techie" is seen as derogatory. The naughty word filter automatically turns it into "Technician". Other words have been so filtered too!
Bill Gates = Satan anyone?

This is my house, my home. I created it, invited some nice people in and decorated it and created lots of rooms. I then opened the doors and gave an open invite to all and sundry to make themselves at home and obey a few rules. One of those rules was about spoiling it for the rest of us and being infantile. I don't have a problem with infantile myself, so I even created a room for it. The FFS room.
This past few days have seen some of our members abusing my hospitality, and ignoring the moderators and admins who I have entrusted with the running of the site whilst I'm not here.
Speaking as someone who went through the whole growing pains with a similar albeit smaller forum a few years back I gotta say you reached that conclusion a whole lot faster and with a darned sight less fallout that I suffered through when I agonised over the same problem(s).
The "it's my house, my rules" approach is by far the best way to go and whilst you get the whole "aren't we in a democracy" stuff, the bottom line is that we're not... it's your house, your rules. Can't speak highly enough for the approach, although you really need to change the carpet and decor
