Been trying for 3. Currently in the process of testing. I don't want to do IVF though... I'd rather adopt and keep my rockin' hot bod

I love Facebook. I love that it enables me and boyfriend to keep in touch with friends and family and let them know what we're doing and keep up with what they're doing. No one has the ability to manually keep in touch with everyone they would like to as often as they'd to. We do our very best to see family/friends on both sides as often as we can but we both work full-time and there's only so much you can cram into the weekends and with friends/family all over the show, it's such a good way of keeping in touch, sharing stuff that's going on with you. Boyfriend's best friend is training to be a ranger out in South Africa - time difference, dodgy connection etc. means that we would hardly have been able to speak to him for the last year. Facebook has enabled us to keep track of where he's at and for him to see what's going on with us.

If you have people on your newsfeed and you don't care about what they have to say, what holiday they've been on, if they've got a job they love, if they're happy etc. then it's your own fault for having them there in the first place!

Edit: I can imagine all the baby pictures/pregnancy announcements are hard when you're in the process of trying, though.

People get quite "funny" with me when I won't fb "friend" them. Staff don't like it, but thats their problem not mine. I am quite selective as two of my boys are in the armed forces and I don't want the world and his wife knowing where they are posted or when they are travelling.
But I have also unfriended my father in law as he doesn't seem to be able to hold his tongue when online and forgets (not that he had many) his social graces!!! He also believes EVERYTHING that he sees on Fb. I've also unfriended one family member who insists on "liking" everything. In fact my boys and I had a bet on how quickly the phantom liker took to like different updates, 2.5 seconds won!!lol
Most of my photos are rescue dogs, I foster for a rescue, or my own dogs who are particularly stupid

But don't ever lose heart - my cousin and his missus have just fallen after seven rounds of IVF, and nearly a decade of trying. I don't know about good things coming to those who wait, but they do seem to come to those who deserve.

*she found out on the very morning I was driving into hospital to, er, fill a pot again for further tests... didn't bloody tell me till after though, did she, oh no.
No, I imagine she was hedging her bets in case she lost it early on - it's very common so until she reached the 3 month mark I imagine she was just playing it safe. To be fair 'filling a pot' is considerably less unpleasant than the stuff us ladies have to go through. We've been trying for nearly 2 years but I don't want IVF because I'm afraid of a) multiple pregnancies and b) As a hormone-related migraine sufferer subjecting myself to the 'omg my brain is exploding' pain is not worth it when there are Cats in the world that need a home. If it turns out we can't have children I shall fill my heart with cats.

LOL Yeah or when someone posts a picture of their baby and all their other friends are calling it a precious angel and a beautiful girl/boy when it looks like this:

One of my FB friends has two children and they haven't exactly been blessed with angelic looks and I think of this every single time I see yet another 'Aren't my children pretty' post from her.

Trashed my profile because I didn't use it and didn't want it. An old girlfriend insisted on it when we were seeing each other which led to many missed 'important' status updates because I never logged into the damn thing.

Facebook just creeps me the hell out anyway, especially when you go through your pictures and something just triggers a nasty memory you'd rather forget about.

That is great. Love the ones with the chickens which was "Please can you do a picture for my business" request. Classic!

I own a Black Cat so I posted a pic of him to the page hoping he'd get illustrated either as a devil cat or as one of the Bobcats but he didn't get picked

Which reminds me actually - another Facebook peeve is the 'Ransom demands' 'If I can reach 1000 likes my parents will buy me a new toy' or 'Something amazing happened. Like this post if you want to know more. If I get enough likes I'll tell the story'.

I loathe these too. Worst offenders are an aunt and the in-laws. Both difficult to block.

My friend list is like witch 's - close friends and family that I don't see often

You can unfollow people, or hide their updates, so you don't unfriend them, but never see their posts. Win.

And I won't argue it - I've got no complaint about that morning (not a bad reason to have a morning off work, after all...), but the timing was amusing in hindsight. As you say - the tests are significantly less, er, comfortable on the feminine side of things.

Aaaand this is why I should have known better and to keep my mouth shut - you never know what's going on behind closed doors. I know from experience how upsetting it can be when people keep saying "so, married a year now, when are you having a baby?" without any idea what you're going through behind the scenes; you'd think I'd learn from that. Sorry if I caused any upset by wading in where I wasn't welcome on a public internet forum, of all places. Mea culpa.
