"Firefly is not just about taking you back to the Amazon store, it's about knowing so much more about consumers - things Amazon would not have known before," noted Carolina Milanesi, from research firm Kantar Worldpanel Comtech.

1/10 - Amazon can go do one.

Parts of the device are gimmicky, but I doubt this is a flash in the pan. Amazon seem to be a company to watch at the moment. They are playing both Google and Apple at their own games and hitting the middle ground very nicely. Their entire Fire range and store front seem very well thought out. Of all the major players - Samsung, Microsoft, Sony, Apple, Google - Amazon seem to be making the best, most well thought out, and consistent play for the core consumer market. They're bringing the console model of loss leader hardware off-set by eStore profits to the mobile, tablet and set top box markets. They seem to be thinking about how the three markets interact and how to manage media across multiple device consistently. I'm sure a lot of this is a major back-door play for the billion dollar gaming market...
