Managed print - cost per page

I've just been sent a proposal for a managed print setup, and someone [who has nothing to do with IT] is making comments about how high the cost per page is.

Can anyone with MFPs/laser printers let me know what their cost per page is, so I can see where this sits?

Printers, Multifunction & Colour Laser Printers, Ink Cartridges put the running costs of printers at the bottom of each models page. Might be useful for you.

Ours are about £0.03 per colour page and £0.003 per mono page. Plus a quarterly rental cost.

This is what we pay. We bought the printers outright, and this is uniform cost over Printers and Copiers, and covers cost for maintenance, repairs, new toner, cleaning kits etc etc

    0.00342p - Black and White
0.02750p - Up to half page of Colour
0.05000p - Anything over half page of Colour per page

    Print:

    A4 Mono - 0.02p
    A4 Colour - 0.05p
    A3 Mono - 0.03p
    A3 Colour - 0.09p

    Photocopy:
    A4 Mono - 0.01p
    A4 Colour - 0.04p
    A3 Mono - 0.02p
    A3 Colour - 0.08p

Prices are rounded up and include paper costs, discounts apply for duplexing. Photocopying charge is closer to actual costs from supplier, Print cost is inflated to get teachers to photocopy more than print.

It'd be worth asking for the devices people are using too - cost per copy on a smaller / cheap MFP is going to be higher than a huge great expensive device...

Having said that - I think I'll have to review ours as they seem higher than some that have been mentioned...

We purchase ours outright and this is the costing on the new contracts/equipment we are looking at.

Currently we pay 4p per colour and 0.4p per mono.

The 3p/0.3p is a very good price.

I was quoted for 5p/0.5p for a PRO Ricoh Colour printer but everything else below that model and other companies (Toshiba/ScanDB/Ricoh/EKS) had the 3p/0.3p prices.

Might be worth mentioning here that the government procurement service Contract Ref RM1599 deals with managed print services and MFD's. There is a limited range of suppliers but it can avoid a full tendering process and prices are competitive.

ETA - just checking the LOT1 pricing :

    Mono 0.199p
    Colour : 1.99p

(you will need to register to see the pricing)

Why do you encourage teachers to photocopy more than print? I'm sure there's a good reason, I just haven't got a clue what it is...

Photocopiers are generally cheaper per copy than printers.

Thanks - I have only ever known MFDs where the price is the same regardless so this is news to me.
