They may be the same cost per page, but you will use less toner/wax etc overall on an MFD over a Printer any day of the week.

3p colour, 0.03p mono - printers provided with no rental / lease cost - have about 20

For Sharp kit you are looking at 3p colour and 0.003 for mono, generally colour is ten times more.

Modern lasers are generally around 10-20p a page depending on brand, obiously you need to take into account leases, electricity and paper.

ours are all sub 1p per page in terms of costs and similar to the costs shown at the beginning of the threads, we have ours on a mix of LEA and non-LEA KonicaMinolta MFD printers here (We are going over to the LEAs contract as they can get low low prices again to what we have agreed in the past slowly, as not all ours renew at the same time)

Check with your LEA if possible, theres a specific framework that a lot of these copier companies should use if dealing with you on education and those costs are quite scandalous.

Thats our costs in terms of what we pay to the companies for the leasing, we charge higher internally for our billing,

Its 2p per colour 10 per bw A4 here with a 1.5 multiplier for duplex and double for A3 printing

We're currently looking at implementing printing costs here, and have recently installed Papercut to monitor this terms activity. We are hopefully going to work out student / teacher allowances with this + taking into account what other people here have suggested on here. We have about 6-7 different printer models here, and alongside that 2 small ricoh devices and a large one. I went through all the toner cartridges "expected life" and worked out the cost per page and rounded it up. The average worked out at 4p Mono 7p Colour just for toner costs.

Actually we have a Konica print solution so our print and photocopy costs are now identical. It's a legacy thing for us from where printing used to be more expensive. We also want to encourage teachers to plan ahead a little more than half a school day. We want them to be using our repographics lady for larger print runs (>20ish copies).

I've just been tasked with getting a couple of extra quotes for ours... I've got one company - but I'd be interested to get some recommendations of companies too...

Thought I'd list our actual devices now, in case there are any companies looking who fancy getting in touch...

We have a networked colour photocopier in one school and the cost is significantly lower than the printers - much better quality too. We are currently looking at a managed print solution in my other school - a networked photocopier and four mono laser printers and the cost per page is around about the first few posts. We have looked at a local provider, Canon, Sharp and Ricoh so far

We've used Lynbook - a local company for many years - and have one direct with Ricoh - we'd never go direct again! What an absolute nightmare we've had - despite the fact that we've got Ricoh's from the local supplier - we're just too small for Ricoh to take an interest in really... love their devices - hate their support...

I've heard from a few sources that all the big manufacturers are the same with smaller clients... so it's not something we'd risk again...

we charge departments 2ppp mono and 8ppp colour, with a 0.1ppp discount for duplexing (so a 2 page document duplex is 3.8p). That covers the whole lot including paper and lease of the machines.
