Qatar World Cup a mistake - Shock!

Sepp Blatter has admitted that deciding to award the 2022 world cup to world cup my have been a mistake..... Really??? Do you think??? I'm sure a world cup in a country that tops 50 degrees in the summer will be absolutely fine. I'm hoping that this may be the end of blatters comical career

To be honest, I can't imagine it's very pleasant to be playing 90 mins worth of Football in 50 degree heat!

I went on holiday to Dubai a few years back and found just walking in 50 degree heat tiresome!!!

All I will say is that they hold other sporting events such as the Moto GP there and just have the race at night. Admittedly this does tend to be around April time rather than June / July. They are on bikes that run very hot and the races last about 45 minutes and they don't get a change for a rest unless they fall off.

I still think it could be done but as always people are over engineering and over thinking things. Play at night or don't play there at all simple.

Add into that the human rights and free speech record of the place and the FA's public focus on being inclusive, and Qatar seems more and more incongruous.

I think it would be difficult to stage all the games at night, as they tend to have some during the day and some at night usually, so having them all at night would make it last longer I'd assume.

I do take the point of Moto GP, same with the F1 race that happens in abu dhabi, but having said that they aren't doing potentially 7 races in less than 30 days.

For how much they get paid they should be prepared to do it barefoot over hot coals!

How much they get paid is irrelevant, but I was waiting for a standard "They get paid loads so who cares response"..... The fact is whether they are paid 50p a week or 50,000 a week, they should not be playing in 50 degree heat. It will also ruin the spectatcle for the millions of people watching worldwide as the performances will certainly suffer.

So why they get the green light to do it then? With the amount of money in football these people who make the decisions must be the best in their field! ( no jokes!).

I dont like sport, im not interested in football for a start, but all this must have been discussed and debated at length with highly paid experts. The people who play the sport are also highly paid !

Maybe this year if it goes ahead the comedy value of players freeking out may elevate my interest to watch some.

You'd certainly think so but then they picked Brazil and last I heard they still hadn't finished any/the majority of their stadiums with the first match less than a month away. Imagine the stress!

Well it seams the old saying 'You get what you pay for' certainly applies to this.
