Ta. Turn off AF :-)! Short depth of field tends to stretch the capabilities of AF.

The Grand Canyon / Lake Mead shots look like something from Maya... surreal.

@CHR1S, some of your pictures look amazing buddy! Really impressed by them, nice one.

Looks like HDR. Nice sense of scale on the Missouri.

More bees! Well, a bee. On the snakes head fritillary in our front garden and taken about a week or so back.
It's also my current desktop wallpaper

Lake Mead and Canyon were HDR, Missouri I cant remember.
I like HDR, but prefer a more subtle approach. As a rule I don't really shop mine if I can.

@CHR1S - really like some of your HDR shots, a lot of people "overcook" them and they come out looking horrendous. I like HDR when it's used to add range to a photo or used to artistically make it look surreal, some people don't seem to get that balance!
I don't do a lot of HDR, but here are a few of mine (a bit smaller, sorry for the previous, huge posts!):
Port de Sóller by Josh_Wolf, on Flickr
Cornish Coast by Josh_Wolf, on Flickr
Plaza Mayor, Madrid by Josh_Wolf, on Flickr
BTW, I don't Photoshop everything but I do like to get a bit creative with it when I do

I love when someone does PS properly. It can be really artistic.
I prefer to get it right in camera, I may tweak the brightness and contrast but that's it.
But yes I do like a good HDR'ing

Obviously I'm a sinner, any photo I like the look of goes through the digital darkroom, even if it's just for a Curves layer. Why shoot RAW unless you're going to fiddle, I say
(In case it wasn't apparent from the shots themselves, all mine earlier had been through the PS rinser, albeit some more than others.)
@LosOjos & @CHR1S (for the lifeboat station) - that's the kind of HDR I like, simply compensating for the lack of dynamic range in camera. I hate the artificial halo look that was so popular a couple of years back. Good work soldiers
