    Geez, they've got bigger.

My old club will be at GL12 (Chesterfield Open gaming Society)

We used to run an even in chesterfield but then took over Wargamer in Newark.

I miss my (even geekier than now) younger days

I forgot to look for them! So knackered but my wallet survived having only bought a £30 carry case. My mates weren't so lucky, let's just say two of them will be hiding the bags from the missus when they get in.

Haha! I don't envy that part of the hobby. 40k cost me a fortune in models and grand tournament entries.

Games Workshop isolated themselves with the sheer cost of their models. The only sign of them at Salute was Forgeworld and third party resellers, I don't even think I saw 40k being played. It was mostly smaller companies and custom stuff including a scale battle cruiser for Dropzone Commander that took up almost a whole stand.

We found a game called Eden which is worth a look. Taban Miniatures Shop

I'll take a look at that.

Back when I was an active member of my club I helped create a ruleset for a starship troopers game that we toured around a few shows (being the bug was much fun) and then we knocked together a set of fleet combat rules, got a load of trek ships cast and did alternating original series and TNG battles. Far more fun than 40k (though harder to get GW fans interested).

I'll have to dig out the rules actually, it was a good game.
