Question Laserlife Cap-Ex, have you come accross it?

I met laserlife at Bett this year and they were promoting their Cap-Ex scheme.

They give you a printer and you just need to buy the toner from them.

    • No capital cost
    • No contract
    • No termination fees
    • No click charge
    • Free calls and labour

I keep thinking there must be a catch!

    Has anyone used them before?

We are currently using their scheme with two models of Kyocera across our school (40 printers in total).

We are currently using their re-filled toners and that seams to be working for us at the moment.

As a company to deal with they are average, I mean to say nothing special but also no complaints. My one bug-bear with them is the support system in place doesn't allow for over the phone diagnostics so for a part that requires replacement it takes at least two visits. As an example: We have a printer that has now had it's network card damaged by a teacher moving it without bothering to unplug the cable each time I've tried to get the support to book the same parts as the previous call but they were unable/unwilling to do so.

    Thanks,

I guess the printers we are looking to replace at the moment are managed solely by us so the repair times can be long, specially if we need to order parts anyway.

Glad you've confirmed that they use re-filled toners, which they didn't tell me.

We have been using this scheme for about 3 years now and haven't found a catch yet. They are really good, they use their own toners but they are no more expensive than anyone else. We have now replaced all our colour printers with theirs and never had one go down for more than 48hours (usually less than 24), which for a free printer i cant really argue with.

If the printers are 'free' then I would not have an issue using cheap toner in them. I only buy original Kyocera toner as we have bought the printers and I want them to run as they should.

We use them for toner, their compatible range. We are using their sister company, Vitesse who sell the supplies. We have had no problems with their toners exploding or anything, and if anything does go wrong they will repair the printer. We have had a few dodgy toners, but they have been replaced next day.

It works really well for us, our expenditure is down with no real loss in print quality, not that the kids are printing anything of any quality! And if anything goes wrong, they get it sorted.

    Thanks for your feedback,

Feel a bit better that people are using them and are relatively happy. Will give them a go.

I will report back when I get it set up.
