I get called geek all the time at work but outside of it I would say that I am not. I spend most of my free time doing a hat full of sports including Triathlons, Surfing and squash. I do enjoy playing some computer games but that is on the wane now summer is on its way and going outside is a lot more appealing.

IT is a job not a passion for me at the moment. Roll on the holidays.

I have Geeky tendencies, like being into console/pc games and get excited by new Tech. But i'm not a "Massive" geek, sport is my real passion, I'm really into Golf and Football. I don't tend to touch my PC at home unless its to browse the internet or play a game.

Well there's lots of examples I could give to demonstrate geek credentials - the bookshelves of SF/fantasy novels, the WH/40k figures also on said bookshelves, the mancave of old gaming machines...

But I think I can stake my claim with LARP.

I have geek bubbling under... But i'm not a typical geek, i'm geeky about things I like.

    Photography,
    Audio-Visual stuff,
Military and industrial archaeology and history in general - I volunteer at an open air museum of ancient life.
    Military Jets.

I don't play games - other than tapped out, although I keep abreast of the tech involved with consoles.

    I despise RPG board games.

Think I need to be more of a geek and learn more stuff - although may have to wait until I can get a test machine at home so I can muck about with Server OSes, Exchange etc etc

Mainly Watch Movies / Listen to Music and Spending time with the family

    Google defines Geek

    Geek

    Noun
    1.
an unfashionable or socially inept person.

    verb
    1.
engage in or discuss computer-related tasks obsessively or with great attention to technical detail.

I don't mind being associated with being a verb, but not the noun!

Only this morning, I phoned a company up to log a support call and I got asked "I don't mean to sound condescending but if I gave you a set of IT instructions, would you be able to follow them?" My reply that I think I might cos I have a degree in IT & Computing and 20 years' experience working in IT so I think I might manage that elicited a nervous chuckle!

I am so not a "stereotypical" geek either, although my friends probably think I am!

I have this problem every time I phone Xerox...I have since got them to add a note to our company file that if I or my boss calls, we are IT literate, we will have tried to do everything possible before calling and we know what we are talking about!
