    New Blu Ray Player

Hi all, I'm sure the title says it all but I'm looking for a new Blu Ray player. I'd like one that can connect to Netflix particularly so I don't have to keep plugging my laptop into the TV. The market seems to be full of options so I'm looking for a recommendation, call me lazy

At some point I'm going to get a raspberry PI and get that doing this job but I just haven't got time at the moment with Little Cookie Monster on the way

    Cheers all.

Samsung BDF5100. My mum has this, connects to netflix, iplayer, youtube etc and plays blu ray. Nice little machine. 3 year Samsung warranty. Can't complain about it and its only £50 from Co-Op online!

Samsung BDF5100 Black - Entry Networking Blu-Ray Player with DLNA, External HDD Playback, 1x HDMI and 1x USB Connection||Black|Samsung

ps3 does the job and at least up to this point has been the most constantly updated to take account of changing standards

What budget? May be a great way of justifying a PS3/4

I don't have a PS3 and Mini Cookie Monster has ruined the PS4 budget

    I could run to £200.

My mum has that model, was easy enough to set up for her, download some apps on it and away we went. Also set up a switch so we could have networked storage and a connection going too it.

Does it definitely do Netflix? Amozon site says yes but the Samsung site only lists iPlayer and Love Film.

The player is a BD-F5100 and that link is for a BD-D5100, just checking that it isn't a subtle difference that means no Netflix

If your mums is the BD-F5100 and it does Netflix then I'm in business

    EDIT

A good piece of equipment if you only want a blu ray player. I had the intention of joining Netflix and joining online services. However this player only has iplayer and you tube. No facility to add extra apps so won't support Netflix or love film etc

Ahhh it's the BD-F5500 that does Netflix.

    Buy PANASONIC DMP-BDT130EB Smart 3D Blu-ray Player | Free Delivery | Currys

I wouldn't go above a £100 for one of these their coming down in price all the time now unless you want wireless really, I bought one of these in January for my home, does 3D as well though I don't have a TV for that and plays netflix without a problem though we don't bother with any of the other smart stuff on it really

Well so after 3 days of waiting in for Yodel to deliver my BD-F5100 I finally cancelled it and fetched one myself BUT there's a problem. I can't update the firmware!!!

I've downloaded the 1013.1 firmware update from Samsung, put it on a USB drive but it fails to detect an update. I can play an mpeg off the drive so it's detecting the drive. I unzipped the update file to the root of the drive as per instructions but still no joy. Currently the player lists the firmware as BSP-F5100XUB-1010.1
I've also tried the online update but that also tells me I have the latest version.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

We had the same issue. We called samsung, they gave us a specific download attachment which allowed the machine to see the ZIP file. I dont know if I still have it but it will be worth giving them a ring anyway.
