SMT are horrified by the ever increasing costs of running our OKI C3200n Colour printer...
We use Print Manager to restrict number of pages printed and this morning SMT have told me to start restricting the type of documents printed.
As many of you do already: it's goodbye documents with Document Unsaved word), http (printing directly from websites), and full page (our Pre-School are over fond of Photo Printing Wizard's largest sizes!) in the title
Apparently Pupil Colour printing is to be banned after Christmas
Now all I need to do is run away before the staff notice!

setup a workpost box for all staff so kids can drag work from there my documents to the techers post box. teacher can then inspect and print at later date if needed.

Our technology faculty are hell bent on buying one of those OKIs for every room........... Our IT working party is looking at removing colour printing from all classrooms (except art/photogrpahy) and centralising it to the repro room - going to be some interesting discussions in the near future I think!
I have a 16' x 16' brick shed in the garden with electric, in range of my WIFI and complete with nesting birds :?

Why accept any responsibility for the change at all..
Get SMT to draft a letter and send it to all staff. You are, after all, the employee in this clamp down, not the person setting the restriction.

For something like this, I'd have my line manager send the email out. That way it is OFFICIAL rather than just GRUMPY NM...

I cankot recommend the OKI C3200n from my experiences. Ours has a nice line in randomly disconnecting itself from the network amongst other endearing traits. It would be safe to say I loathe ours!
@Joanne - I agree about the Samsung monos. We've got one in the Science room - it's very old, very reliable and extreemely cheap to run!
I've already persuaded the head to memo the staff about the changes (I wrote, she signed it). I'll still get in the neck from the teachers tho'

It's not necessary for students to print in colour to pass anything.
Here they are able to but only if they pay, we overlay a sheet with 100 squares on it and charge 2p a square. Not many want to print in colour anymore at school they do it at home.

I moved my schools mainly to using CIS kitted printers but because I know how to maintain them it's a win-win situation. It's not something I'd recommend to anyone looking for an easy ride though.
The kids printing in colour isn't expensive as a result but what drives me potty is the number of staff who print tons of advisory docs and then don't even bother to pick it up!
