    I'm completely flabbergasted..

A member of staff e-mails down a ticket.. IWB isn't working properly.
Two minutes later I get an update, "Never mind, turned it off and on again, working now"

I'm so happy I could cry

Two minuntes? Why hadn't you dropped everything and run to their classroom in that time to fix it?

If you carry on the way you are you'll end up with an IT Technician in every classroom - you can then kick back and put your feet up and have an eduhobnob!

To put it simply, I'm a miserable old git that likes to make them suffer.

    Oh, that'll be the day.

I'm not sure if I should be terrified that they're actually learning..

Switching it off and back on again is a "Life Skill" I've tried to in-still in every member of staff here. Doesn't half cut the calls in half

I just wish I knew how to get some of them to do it. On my door I have one of those "Don't Panic- turn it off and on again" signs for when they rush to my office and I am not there -but they still don't do it

I think people don't really believe it works because it's so clichéd and staple. It's joked about and not really explained as to why it's important - and when you try to explain that it is actually a useful thing to do, they've already formed this opinion of 'it's a joke' (or in some cases, 'it's just fobbing me off') and don't take you seriously

Staff in my school are lazy to the point they get me to transfer files to usb sticks for them. I would kill to have staff like that!

I had a similar moment the other day: One of our apprentice TAs called up to say one of our UST projectors was complaining about airflow, I emailed back, optimistically, that it was really easy to clean the filters and gave brief instructions, she emailed back 3 days later to tell me she'd been round and done all 15 of them, and had looked up how to do the other brands that were within step stool reach!

I think I'd just flat-out refuse. Probably make excuses about how I was too busy and give them a brief discussion on how to drag-and-drop, but I really don't think I'd do that for them unless it was a really technologically inept member of staff (through just not being able to pick it up, rather than not being willing to learn)

The site manager was telling me he had a radio call to say could he go to one of the meeting rooms as they needed help. When he got there he was tolded the lights were not working so he walked over to the door and pressed the light switch thing is they had to walk past the light switch to get to the radio!
