Free screen capture /recorder software?

Does anyone have use any free software for screen capture or screen recording. the pupils need to record the mouse clicks etc for proof of work done?

You can download Camtasia Studio 3 for free. It's not the latest version of Camtasia but it'll do what you want. You may not be able to install it on multiple machines though.

I want one. This thread is a bit old now, so does anyone have any updated, fresh opinions on (free) applications you can use to make video tutorials demonstrating how to do/use something?

Wisdom-Soft Free Screen Recorder is what we have, Windows Media Encoder also allows screen recording

..just to add to the requirements sorry, I definitely want to be able to annotate the video i.e. scribble all over it with arrows/pointers and comment boxes.
