Not to keen on the alpha's don't even think they look that pretty anymore just look like a souped up version of an old Fiat Punto! (My opinion though) and as @Oaktech said they are SOOOOO unreliable my dad had one from new and every 2months he was taking it back for a repair on something or other, hate the things with a passion he does!

Nope at only 6K a year it's probably a false economy.

I prefer power delivery that is consistent through the rev range rather than a dollop of boost halfway through ( I had a TDCI 130 Mondeo for a year ) .

I am actualy taking ownership of a Passat TDi on the weeeknd whilst I do some jobs on my S-Type, but at £175 it will pay for itself easily.

I was actualy at my garage this morning overhearing a conversation "the X3? Had to take the injectors out and send them for inspection" They get a large number of poorly high presure dervs through the door.

My 123d is a diesel, twin turbo for that matter... one of the best engines I have ever used. Hence why im considering the 530d even with my low mileage.

VW FTW I've tried others including testing a few BMWs and none were as nice as my VWs I've had. Something like a Golf GTD 170PS will be fun and practical or look at something like a Passat W12

Ordered a new Skoda Octavia Estate on New Year's Eve as the dealer was doing an amazing offer on them. I was going to get the VRS but made the mistake of taking Mrs Teejay with me on the test drive so have ordered the 2l turbo diesel SE instead

Audi A4 Avant S-Line Le Mans edition. 3.0 diesel.

Looks superb on the outside, feels better than a BMW inside, goes like stink, loads of room, reliable.

Have to be careful with diesels if your doing low mileage, it would be a lot more fun and a lot better for the engine if you went for petrol if your only doing 6k miles a year

How about a Seat Exeo ST? It's an Audi A4 under the skin.

They have a decent spec and are relatively cheap! £11k will buy you this

Fully aware of that and Spent time looking at 530D's but that was when I was looking at doing 25-30K a year.

The BMW straight 6 petrols are fantastic engines too.

Well, Ive seen a Jag XF, sat in it, started it, nice cars but didn't quite do it for me.
I havent found a nice Audi in my price range either...

I am however going to test drive a 530d with every option box ticked on Saturday.
