    Wellies....

I need to invest in some new wellies and am totally unsure what to buy!

Hunters are now made in China and not what they used to be and I would be happy to spend a bit to get some that will last.

What would you guys recommend up to about £50 maybe a little more?

Try Screwfix.com - Power Tools, Electrical, Plumbing Supplies & more for nice ones with steel toe caps or the local B&Q

I bought a cheap pair from Millets with a cartoon design over them about 4 years ago,

They have been out in all types of adventures and still look good as new once cleaned.

+1 for muck boots...neoprene lined for warmth, had mine about 3 years and they are still as sturdy as the day I bought them

I wear my sailing boots, they don't have a raised heel, which I prefer.

Muck boots are great in mud/snow etc, not so good on smooth surfaces like tarmac/concrete especially if it's wet. Still really good though, I go trolling off in very muddy, hilly fields most days and the difference compared to my old wellies is incredible. It's just when you get on pavements and the like they can be a bit slippy.

A trip to the local farm store is usually the best place to buy affordable, robust wellies.

Pretty much anything designed for use around boats or horses is going to be good although I have a pair of Hunters with the adjustable calf strap as Wellies are never wide enough for my fat calves and I adore them - not sure what you mean when you say they aren't what they used to be?

Hunter sold up and moved to China.

now made in Serbia (really) after Hunter closed their Dumfries operation and moved production to China. Tigar bought the plant and equipment + the unique latex sock dipping process which made Hunter's so good. They are available in the UK under the Century Dip-Tech brand
